Manufacture & Assembly
- In 1911, Mr. Kyugoro Sakata, an engineer from the historic naval port of Hiroshima, was introduced to a fountain pen brought from England by a sailor friend.
Fascinated by it, he soon became determined to produce finely crafted writing instruments in Japan with the highest specification and writing performance
Mr. Sakata decided to call the company Sailor Pen in the expectation that the business would expand internationally like the voyages of a sailor.
The company thus became the first to produce Fountain Pens in Japan and it is still one of the oldest in the industry.

Sailor’s nib LIMITED design is an iconic, with the famous Diamond on top of a mountain print,
The “large” model features a slightly larger nib than the “standard” and it is much appreciated.
The nib has some presence to it, but it’s not over the top – similar to how almost all the features on this pen are.
Writing with the sailor nib is a pleasant experience.
It's a hard type nib but writing feels very smooth.
It could be one of the smoothest in the market today.
It’s almost like writing with the perfect pencil on good paper – just enough tactile feedback to let you know you’re physically writing with something.
